KA6U Roadtrip Update May 29, 2022 2334UTC - Activation Plan Details June 3 - 5

Here is an update for the activations later this week:

  • Friday June 3rd - Activate EM24PA near Broken Box, Southern Oklahoma - MR ~1430
    • 2M EME at Moonrise 144.132 JT65B should have Internet
    • 23cm EME also at Moonrise 1296.080 Q65-60C
    • After 2M callers are complete will move to 222 EME 122.080 Q65-60C
    • After 222 EME will move to 70cm EME 432.080 Q65-60B
  • Saturday June 4th - Activate EM34BA near Nashville, Southern Arkansas - MR ~1530
    • 2M EME at Moonrise 144.132 JT65B should have Internet
    • 23cm EME also at Moonrise 1296.080 Q65-60C
    • After 2M callers are complete will move to 222 EME 122.080 Q65-60C
    • After 222 EME will move to 70cm EME 432.080 Q65-60B
  • Sunday June 5th - Activate EM33BA near Ida, LA - MR ~1630
    • 2M EME at Moonrise 144.132 JT65B should have Internet
    • 23cm EME also at Moonrise 1296.080 Q65-60C
    • After 2M callers are complete will move to 222 EME 122.080 Q65-60C
    • After 222 EME will move to 70cm EME 432.080 Q65-60B
I tested updated 70cm EME station this morning.  Worked very well.  Strong signals to and from EU.
I can run both H and V polarization on 70cm.  "Open truck door, walk quickly to antennas, twist, twist...only during RX".

When I started planning this trip I estimated $3000 for diesel fuel.  The estimate is now $8000 and I think we may even see $10 per gallon prices by September.

  KA6U Update - July 18, 2023 -  1130UTC Updated plan for Saturday July 22nd: Saturday July 22nd - MS EM43KH - 1700 - 1900UTC - 23cm and 70cm  Saturday July 22nd - AR EM43JG - 2000 - 2200UTC - 23cm and 70cm  There is a possibility that I may move the AR activation to Sunday July 23rd starting at 1800UTC. I will operate first on the east side of the Mississippi River in Mississippi and then cross the river into Arkansas.  I need 45 - 60 minutes to move the 70cm and 23cm stations.
